AI assistants have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. We use them in every area, from writing an email to complex coding projects. But there are so many options on the market that we can't tell which one to choose. In this post, we compare the three giants using our real experiences.
ChatGPT: The Name Everyone Knows
ChatGPT is the first name that comes to all our minds as the tool that started the AI revolution. Developed by OpenAI, this assistant is quite strong especially in general conversation and creative writing.
Last month I needed to prepare product descriptions for a client. I gave ChatGPT the product's features and asked for five separate descriptions in different tones. The results were impressive; the texts in the friendly and witty tones in particular really read as if a human had written them. However, I noticed it sometimes repeats itself on technical details.
The areas where ChatGPT is strong are:

As for its weaknesses, it can lose context in long conversations. Once, while I was working on a project document, by the middle of the chat it had completely forgotten the initial instructions I'd given. I had to remind it again.
Claude: Master of Long Text and Analysis
Claude was developed by Anthropic and is ahead of its rivals especially in long-document analysis. Thanks to its 200 thousand token context window, you can upload an entire book and ask questions.
I use Claude especially in research projects. Last week I uploaded a 40-page market analysis report and asked it to pull out the key points. It didn't just summarize; it even spotted inconsistencies in the report. That really surprised me.
Claude's standout features:
- The capacity to work with very long documents
- A tendency to give honest and balanced answers
- High performance in writing code and debugging
- The ability to follow complex instructions
However, Claude has shortcomings too. It isn't as well equipped as ChatGPT for things like image generation or pulling real-time information from the web. There can also be gaps in knowledge on some current topics.
Gemini: Integrated with the Google Ecosystem
Gemini, as Google's AI assistant, stands out especially for its integration with Google products. It works naturally with Gmail, Google Docs and Google Sheets.
A friend of mine works at a digital marketing agency and uses Gemini for Google Ads campaign analysis. Being able to pull in and analyze Google Analytics data directly has significantly sped up their workflow. It's a big advantage especially for teams using Google Workspace.
Gemini's strengths:
- Deep integration with Google products
- Access to up-to-date information and citing sources
- Multimodal capabilities, meaning visual understanding
- A quite generous free plan
On the downside, it lags behind ChatGPT in creative writing. It can also struggle to follow complex multi-step instructions.
Who Wins in Real-World Scenarios?
We tested all three tools in different scenarios over several months. Here are the results:
For writing, ChatGPT is far ahead. It gives the most fluent results for blog posts, social media copy and email drafts. But if you're going to have a long report or technical document written, Claude produces more consistent and detailed results.
For coding, Claude and ChatGPT are almost neck and neck. However, in complex projects we observed that Claude makes fewer errors. In a React project, we had both write the same component; Claude's output worked on the first try, while ChatGPT's needed small fixes.
For research and analysis, Gemini stands out thanks to its access to current information. But on topics that require deep analysis, Claude performs better.
Which One Should You Choose?
Honestly, I recommend using all of them, because each is strong in a different area. But if you have to choose just one tool, here's what I can say:
- ChatGPT if you produce creative content
- Claude if you do technical and analytical work
- Gemini if you live in the Google ecosystem
My personal favorite for my day-to-day work has been Claude. The consistent results it gives, especially when working with long documents, have really made my workflow easier. But when drafting a blog post, I still go back to ChatGPT because it produces more natural and fluent text.
In the end, there's no such thing as the best AI assistant. The best assistant is the one that best fits your needs. Try all three and find out which is the most efficient for your own workflow.
